Welcome and thanks for visiting the Three Of Kind Website!! Let's start with member history:
Jimi McGee and Ron Taddeo began performing together in 1971. Jimi had already been playing drums with his brother and sister-in-law, in a band called "THE BUGS". They were the premier local band of the 60's to early 70's, appearing on TV and on stage with some recording artists like, PETER AND GORDON. They also had a #1 song on the local billboard charts. Ron was performing with high school friends, and appeared on stage with artists like THE KINGSMEN, LITTLE PEGGY MARSH. He continued to gig throughout his college years in Milwaukee and when he returned to Natick, formed a 9 pcs showband, and began to play full-time in the Boston-Cape Cod area. Somehow, Ron got to audition for the "BUGS", and against Jimi's wishes, was hired! The Bugs continued for another dozen years playing up to 50 wks a year! Jimi and Ron broke away ,and reformed as the SUMMERSTREET BAND and continued playing in the metro-west area for another 20+ years. During that time Ron and Jimi needed a bassist...in stepped Mark Sabin. Mark was a young , new breed of bassists with plenty of talent and stage presence. His "youthful appearence" and energy was a true "sparkplug" and brought the best out in the SUMMERSTREET BAND. But all things must pass, and his job demands became too stressful and sadly Mark had to step away from music. SUMMERSTREET continued for another decade. In 2010, SSB lost their standout guitarist. Jimi and Ron decided to continue playing , but this time as a trio. A good friend ,Richard Wood was available ,and these three talented musicians got together to form THREE OF A KIND (T.O.A.K.) Unfortunately , "Woody" had some unforseen complications, and Jimi and Ron were again in need of a bassist...and as they say "timing is everything"..MARK SABIN to the rescue once again!! The present members have a solid history and work together very well. They have learned, over time, that it's not how good you play a song (they do that anyway)-it's how good is the song you play!!! Their music is upbeat and fun with lots of audience inter-action. So far T.O.A.K. has been warmly welcomed and their future appears to be promising. To be continued...
